BEHIND CLOSED DOORS: Menswear

The autumn theme focuses on and takes inspiration form great British luxury. Acknowledging the British tradition for luxury, attention to detail, premium design and quirkiness. Of course Ben Sherman gives everything its mod twist to make it contemporary and relevant.

The collection sees the Ben Sherman mod leaving the city.  Mixing city sharpness with casual, we dress down the suit and mix tailoring with knitwear and smart shirts with track tops, add in some driving inspired shoes and some driving gloves and in he’s off, out of the city.

After speeding through autumn soaked winding roads he arrives at the hide out, the log cabin, where he indulges in great British elitist winter sports, some fishing, some shooting, and of course wears the attire to match, waxed jackets, tartan influenced shirts, twill dog tooth pork pie hats, heavier knitwear and hunter wellies.

After picking up his favourite girl, its back in the Aston and up to the alpine resort for a big party.  Here dinner jackets are worn over shiny track tops, ski inspired light weight nylons over striped polo’s for the drive.  Fine gauge mod roll necks worn under double breasted melton coats for the walk from bar to bar, finished off with a large night cap and a midnight spin in the snow.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS: Womenswear

The Autumn Winter 2009 theme focuses on and takes inspiration form great British luxury. Acknowledging the British tradition of luxury, attention to detail, premium design and quirkiness.  Of course Ben Sherman gives everything its mod twist to make it contemporary and relevant.

‘The whole collection’ captures the essence of fleeing the urban landscape, away from the speeding traffic and bustling crowds.  Warm greys contrasting with vivid gold, optic white and jet black are blended into herringbone weaves, wool blends, sand washed silk and cashmere-touch cotton, forming a tailored look with androgynous design influences.  The classic city shirts are worn with casual biker jacket and cropped skinny leg pants, geometric shirts are styled alongside city swing coats and the extra skinny Siouxsie jean.

Ben Sherman blends luxury and tradition for a contemporary take on mod style.  Sand-washed silk and lustrous taffeta enliven darkest chocolate, tan, plum and winter white are undercut by flashes of hot pink.  Traditional British fabrics modernised though contemporary silhouettes and masculine detailing sees a belted waxed jacket is styled with the Siouxsie skinny jean and chunky knitwear layered over cotton shirts and Prince of Wales check culottes.

Sophistication and luxury emanate through a sharp, clean collection that epitomises the original Ben Sherman spirit.  Inky blues and black combine with platinum grey, winter white and pops of ruby red in silk stripes and fine gauge cashmere touch cotton.  A heavy Melton coat styled with fine gauge bold stripe knitwear and super skinny denim.  A longer length blazer accentuated at the shoulder, layered over graphic tee and skinny pinstripe trousers emphasises the collections sharp tailoring and menswear detailing.
